Changing Gears - Community Multi-Tasker

(Initial 1-year contract)


                        Hours of work:          Part-time, 25 hours per week

                                                           (including occasional evening and weekend work to be agreed in advance)


                       Salary:                        £10.85 per hour

                                                           We are a London Living Wage employer


                        Holiday:                     25 days per year plus public/ bank holiday, pro-rata


                        Employed by:            Noel Park Big Local through Kickstart placement in partnership with Engie


                        Responsible to:         This role will report to the Community Development Manager


                        Location:                    Based in Noel Park, N22


        Purpose of Role:

                        To join Noel Park Big Local as Community Multi-taskers as part of the Changing Gears programme

                        To learn a range of basic practical skills and employ these skills in community support in and around the Noel Park Big Local                                         catchment  area

                        To engage in Noel Park Big Local and Changing Gears' community-enhancing projects

Responsibilities & Tasks

                            Training and Community Work - The CMTs will work within the Changing Gears programme to acquire and apply a number of entry-level                                         trade skills which will include:         

                            •    Basic Gardening, hedge trimming.

                            •    Basic skills & maintenance in wood working

                            •    Assisting various contractor programmes

                            •    Acquiring basic skills in bicycle repair and maintenance

                            •    Assisting and participating in Noel park Big Local community events

                            •    Other activities which fall broadly into line with the intentions of the position



                            Basic Health and Safety delivered at the start by our partner Engie will include:

                            •    Level 1 Health and Safety Awareness

                            •    CSCS Card (Green)

                            •    Manual Handling

                            •    Safe Working from Heights

                            •    Asbestos Awareness

                            •    Slips, Trips and Falls

                            •    Fire Marshall


Personal Specification

                            •    Currently in receipt of Universal Credit

                            •    Knowledge of the community and geography of Noel Park Big Local

                            •    Ability to work in a small team

                            •    Willingness & commitment to learn new skills

                            •    Commitment to fulfil employment period

                            •    To accept supervision sessions and support from line management

                            •    To follow health and safety procedures of employer during working contract period

                            •    Commitment to supporting the outcomes of NPBL development plan
