Volunteer Opportunities

The Noel Park Big Local could not achieve what we do in our local area without the help of local volunteers. We have a number of exciting opportunities for local people to get involved in, and we'd love to hear from you!

Some benefits of volunteering with the Noel Park Big Local
  • A wide range of opportunities and ways to get involved and help your local community develop.
  • A chance to meet other local people and increase your social circle.
  • The opportunity to develop new and existing skills, for personal and professional reasons.
  • Regular social events for our volunteer team in the local area.
  • A reference for employers if needed (after 3 months volunteering).
  • Access to the SPICE Time Credits volunteer recognition programme, with various rewards available SPICE brochure

We have a range of opportunities currently available. If none of the current opportunities interest you, please do still get in touch, as we're keen to speak to you about the local area, your aspirations and any skills and ideas that you might like to share. We can work flexibly around your ideas, skills and availability and give you fantastic opportunities to get involved.

Befriending Scheme

We have identified a need in the local area for a befriending scheme. There are none currently active that people can refer to, so we are starting one up and are actively recruiting for Volunteer Befrienders. We are also looking for referrals of older people that may benefit from this scheme. As a Befriender you will be linked with an older local person who you will visit at least once per week, and will help to enable a potentially isolated or lonely local person to experience a better quality of life. You may be helping in light practical ways around the house or garden, attending local activities or events, or simply chatting and drinking tea! We will match people on interests and availability, and will offer full induction, training and support throughout.

Mentoring scheme

We are starting a Mentoring scheme for young people in our area, helping them to develop and achieve their life goals. We are not planning to start until September onwards, but are keen to speak with interested mentors. It's an amazing opportunity, and you will get just as much out of it as the young person does. We will be delivering full mentoring training for all mentors, and providing a framework within which the mentoring relationships will fit. We will offer ongoing support and training as needed.

Events volunteers

We are planning a variety of events this year with and for the local community. We need volunteers to help with all aspects of these events such as planning, marketing, and running all parts of the events and associated activities on the day. We hope to build a list of people willing to get involved with the many exciting events we are planning, so we can then contact you as events come up and you can get involved in the ones that interest you most!

Activity volunteers

We are planning to launch a range of activities for local people, and need volunteers to help us in a range of ways. This could involve attending and organising activities, planning activities and coming up with new ideas, marketing and advertising them to the local community. So if you have any interest in helping to provide interesting and exciting activities for your local community, contact us!

Partnership members

And last, but certainly not least we are always looking for local people to join the Partnership board. We meet once per month, and are the main group of people that decide how to use the Big Local funding to achieve our aims locally. You can read the Noel Park Big Local plan for more details on our priorities and aims, then come along to a partnership meeting to meet us all and see how we work! Our meetings run from 7pm to 9pm on the last Thursday of every month - location and further details on the Calendar page of this website.
